The Ariège Hound is a rare hunting dog. It was bred in France, but is now rarely seen in its homeland. Like all hounds, she has a slender, muscular build. They are energetic and resilient, have a keen sense of smell and a sharp bark. They can be loyal and obedient companions. However, before getting such a dog, you should carefully study all the information about the breed and reviews from the owners.
The breed got its name from the fact that it was bred in the city of Ariège in the south of France. Hounds were used for breeding, so this dog belongs to this group. The breed is also known as the French Hound or Alégeois for short.
Unlike other breeds, the Alège hound is not very fast, but it is hardy, adventurous and has an innate hunting instinct. Their medium height makes them ideal for hunting rabbits and foxes.
The Ariège Hound is a well-balanced dog. With enough exercise, they make good companions.
The main disadvantage of this hound is that it is a very rare breed. To find a puppy, you have to go to special nurseries.
